Winter 2012
From News, Words
posted on December 13th, 2012

I hope you’re keeping toasty and enjoying the run-up (or slide-down) to Christmas. This is the final news update of 2012 but watch this space for a link to the Christmas EP 2012, which (as always) will be “pay what you want” via Bandcamp.

Also, if you bought Disobedience on Bandcamp in the past year, look out for an extra special thank-you gift, in an email very soon.

For now, this news has: two final gigs for 2012, plus why I’m quitting the loo photos, a new Winter Rabbits A3 print, plus details of my 2013 Artist-in-Residence (Popular Music) role at Leeds Metropolitan University…

LEWES
CHRISTMAS SHIPWRECKS AT BUTTERCUP CAFÉ
This Saturday, 15 Dec, 7.30pm, one of my favourite new Sussex bands Small Shipwrecks are having a Christmas party in their hometown of Lewes and I’ll play a solo set. This is my first ever time singing in Lewes, despite it being less than 10 miles away from Brighton. More new song tryouts and festive silliness. Online tickets (and in Brighton) are SOLD OUT but I think there are a couple of tickets left in Union Records in Lewes.

BRIGHTON
CHRIS T-T SINGS A.A. MILNE (Christmas 2012 edition)

My (possibly last ever) Milne show is at Brighton Friends Meeting House, Sat 22 Dec, 2pm. It is selling pretty fast now (60% gone), so if you’re thinking of coming, it’s worth getting your tickets now. The updated concert will include exclusive one-off new Milne songs and other festive treats. It’s all seated, unplugged and, as always, all ages welcome.

By the way, those two shows are my 1,995th and 1,996th gigs of my life – so I’m getting very close to the big 2,000, should be early in 2013. Any ideas for a perfect anniversary gig, get in touch.

LEEDS METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY: ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE 2013
I’m very pleased to announce that in 2013 I will be the inaugural Artist-In-Residence (Popular Music) in the music school at Leeds Metropolitan University. I’ll be based in Leeds for some of January, kicking off a composition and recording project, catching up with old friends-in-the-north and generally making a nuisance of myself in the city that was once my home. If you’re in the Yorkshire area and we should meet up, get in touch.

WINTER RABBITS PRINT
This print is a wintery image I put together, adapting Steph Wood’s beautiful Disobedience artwork. I’m really proud of it. It’s a digi-print onto 300gsm untreated A3 card, in a signed, numbered edition of 50 only. Available now in the web shop HERE

NO MORE LOOS!
I’ve decided to end my #loo2010/11/12 project. This year I didn’t get abroad much, so it hasn’t felt like I visited enough truly exotic loos. And here in the UK, especially in Brighton, there are fewer and fewer new loos to go in, so whole weeks go past without any. Anyway, in January there will be a final print of the best loos of 2012, plus a bigger poster of loads of them.

2013
We’re now deep into recording a new band album with Jon Clayton at One Cat Studio in Loughborough Junction, which will almost certainly be released in 2013 as Chris T-T and the Hoodrats. My simple feeling about it is this: I’m more excited about how this record is sounding at this stage than anything I’ve made since 2003. I cannot wait for you to hear it. I’m also fairly far along, working on my first full-length book. It’s a non-fiction (basically one of my rants but longer), so watch this space for news in the new year.
