Here’s the playlist for Midnight Campfire episode #63 first broadcast Wed 4 Nov 2015 on Brighton’s Juice 107.2. A good one – the Vic Chesnutt was a perfect start, lots of new stuff in the first hour, including some unheard gems. Launched November’s Album Of The Month, Mairearad & Anna’s magic third album Best Day. Then a themed second hour of rebel songs (vaguely for bonfire night), with a few lush bits of audio linking them. You can LISTEN ONLINE HERE – and here’s what I played… read more

I just got home from the Ibeyi show at the Concorde, my second time seeing them this year. It was a beautiful gig, moments of real transcendence. read more

Here’s the playlist for Midnight Campfire episode #62 first broadcast Wed 28 Oct 2015 on Brighton’s Juice 107.2. I loved doing this one, after a couple of wobbly weeks. Though there were tech quirks, the music flowed great, that Will Varley into Tennessee Ernie is a perfect start and I’m loving WIAIWYA’s Bond tribute compilation A Girl And A Gun, from which I took three songs. Dropped in a six minute Hoagy Carmichael at the last moment because of some weird glitches meaning the first half was short of allocated time – and actually it matched fine. Anyway, you can LISTEN ONLINE HERE and here’s what I played… read more

Here’s the playlist for Midnight Campfire episode #61 first broadcast Wed 21 Oct 2015, on Juice 107.2. I was recovering from illness doing this show and it passed by in a blur; I barely know what was going on, to be honest, though I know the music mix was lovely. Listen online here and here’s what I played… read more

The point about non-violence in activism is not that the state and corporations are non-violent, so we should be too. It is, rather, that the state and corporations are violent, very much so, and at a deeply ingrained level, with the media almost always rendering that violence invisible or normalised.  read more

Here’s the playlist for Chris T-T’s Midnight Campfire episode #59, first broadcast Wed 7 Oct 2015 on Juice 107.2. Good music but I was chaos in the studio, under-prepared, juggling tech weirdness and an odd playlist order on my part. Click here to listen online – it’s still fun – but no classic. Here’s what I played… read more

Here’s the playlist for Midnight Campfire episode #58, first broadcast Wed 30 Sep, 2015 on Juice 107.2. It’s a dark, modernist show – not as much trad as usual. I liked it a lot – you can listen online and here’s what I played… read more

Here’s the playlist for Chris T-T’s Midnight Campfire episode #57, first broadcast Wed 23 Sep on Juice 107.2. I’ll put the audio link up as soon as it’s ready. It’s a great first hour and then a bonkers wig-out second hour. One of the most epic shows I’ve done. Here’s what I played… read more

Here’s the playlist for Chris T-T’s Midnight Campfire episode #56, first broadcast Wed 16 Sep 2015. A chaotic show for me – flew more spontaneous than usual and loved it, especially the first hour. The new Louis Barabbas single is a joy and I had a magic moment playing Loudon’s Motel Blues after O’Hooley & Tidow’s ace Elliott Smith cover – only as it was playing I spotted their album also has a Loudon song. Swear I hadn’t noticed til a minute in. Anyway, as usual I’ll throw up the ‘listen online’ link when it’s ready but for now, here’s what I played… read more
