Over the weekend I gave a short, dense talk (no slides), for CMU’s DIY strand at The Great Escape Convention. I looked at first steps to recording for new music artists. This isn’t a transcript but here are the key points, from my notes. By necessity it’s a bit topline for the target audience but I hope it’s useful…
Here’s the playlist for Chris T-T’s Midnight Campfire show #37, first broadcast Wed 13 May 2015. It included my top five picks for the following weekend’s Great Escape festival in Brighton. I enjoyed this episode a lot and it was very fresh – mostly artists I’d never played before. HERE is the audio link and here’s the playlist…
Here’s show #36 of Chris T-T’s Midnight Campfire, first broadcast on Juice 107.2 FM on Wed 6 May 2015. It was a pre-election show, so the second hour is themed around election songs, which were tough to find – so there’s some odd, obscure choices. The first hour is cracking though. You can listen again HERE and the playlist is here:

Here’s the playlist for Chris T-T’s Midnight Campfire episode #33, first broadcast Wed 15 Apr 2015. You can listen online HERE. One of my favourites; the second hour is themed on whales and whaling, plus the show has a more conventionally folkie vibe than usual. Still some curveballs though. Loved it. Boomtown Rats are this week’s Campfire Songbook entry…

Episode #31 of Chris T-T’s Midnight Campfire is online now to listen HERE. It was first broadcast on Wed 1 April 2015, which was my 10th wedding anniversary, so Rifa gets a dedication. Apart from that, fairly low key show, no theme, lots of lovely tunes and a Campfire Songbook entry from Toy Story. Check out the full playlist…
Chris T-T’s Midnight Campfire show #30 was broadcast on Juice on Wed 25 Mar. It was one of my favourites, partly for the music, partly for a couple of silly moments. Especially the final run of tracks was lush to play out on loud studio speakers. Here’s the LISTEN ONLINE link and here’s the playlist. Eat this, every other folk show ever…
Chris T-T’s Midnight Campfire show #29, first broadcast Wed 18 Mar 2015, is now online to listen whenever and wherever you like: HERE. The first hour was more rocknroll than usual, then the second hour was more folkie. I loved playing the new Sweet Billy Pilgrim single Coloma and spun a bunch of Aussie artists to make up for not playing enough before. Then I opened hour two with The Unthanks’ amazing 10 minute Mount The Air. The Campfire Songbook entry is Carole King’s It’s Too Late. Check out the full playlist…
