Mid November: the opening night of Jim Bob’s UK tour. We were in Leeds, it was sold out and I was due onstage in five minutes. Jim and me were chatting backstage, Mr Spoons was setting up his guitar tech stuff and Marc was out in the venue running the merch stall, talking with punters. Then Jim got a text. It was a message from Miles Hunt out of The Wonder Stuff.
Ding dong merrily on high… here we go, it’s time for all my favourites of the #BestYearEver (TM) in one ridiculous list. Beware, this is a longer slog and gets more boring, nerdier and minutiae-obsessed even than previous years…
Here’s what I played on Midnight Campfire episode #111, first broadcast Wed 14 Dec 2016, the penultimate programme of 2016. This episode was largely made on tour, so it’s a bit of a patchwork with no Album Of The Month or Campfire Songbook entry – but it turned out lovely.
